  • Use it or Lose it

February // USE IT OR LOSE IT

At the end of last year, I decided to join my church choir for the annual carols presentation. I’m not the best singer the world has to offer but I can hold a tune. I had assumed it was going to be plain sailing as I had been in the choir for most of my primary school life and in my twenties. Now, I found the singing part okay, but was surprised I couldn’t seem to memorise a verse, let alone whole songs! (more…)

  • Take Stock

    January // TAKE STOCK

Happy New Year and welcome to the ‘new format’ Minute Motivation.

Many who know me, know that I love sports – tennis, football and more recently, I have particularly enjoy Formula 1. I love the rush of energy, the sound of the engines and the nail-biting moments. Ok Doyin, don’t get carried away here, most of your readers/listeners are women ! Apart from the thrill of the sports, I actually do learn a lot from the sport. This month’s chat is as a result of one of those lessons – the role of tyre changes in a skilled driver winning the race. (more…)

  • PASS IT ON : Part of the ‘GAP’ Series

P – is for PASS IT ON.

We need this series with the letter P for ‘Pass it on’. 2 months ago I formed a new habit of asking myself ‘who needs this?’ whenever I got the privilege of being blessed with money, information or anything. (more…)

  • AMPLIFY : Part of the ‘GAP’ Series

    A – is for AMPLIFY.

Sometimes you come across a word that gets you excited. That’s how I feel about the word AMPLIFY! The dictionary defines it as to make larger, greater, or stronger; enlarge; extend. (more…)

  • GRATITUDE : Part of the ‘GAP’ Series

    G – GRATITUDE

This month, it’s about filling the GAP and doing our part in making the world a better place…

With this in mind, I start this series with my 1st letter – G; G for Gratitude. (more…)

  • YET : Part of the ‘WAY’ Series

    Y – YET

It’s the last letter in this series of attitudes I have adopted in the past couple of weeks

    • W for Write
    • A for Act and
    • Y for Yet!

Yes you got that right… I love the word YET because it puts an emphasis on HOPE. Think of these 2 statements – ‘I haven’t made any sales today’ and ‘I haven’t made any sales today, yet’. (more…)

  • ACT : Part of the ‘WAY’ Series

    A – ACT

How did your ‘WRITING’ exercise go? How did it make you feel? Today we move on to the second word that has spurred me on in recent weeks. It begins with the letter ‘A’ and it is ACT! The word itself is powerful enough to get anyone going. I concluded that the biggest dream killer is refusing to act. (more…)

  • WRITE : Part of the ‘WAY’ Series

Your WAY to Success: W – WRITE

I’ve had a great day today and as I sit scribbling, I ask myself what words defined me in the last quarter. You see I like taking stock of my past, so I have the necessary ‘fuel’ to build a better future. More than taking stock, I love patterns (probably the mathematician in me) and I get doubly excited when I write things down that spell a word 🙂 . (more…)

  • PACE YOURSELF : Part of the ‘TOP’ Series

    Pace Yourself

You didn’t expect that did you? Most people continuously go full speed without ever pausing or knowing when to take a break. (more…)

  • ORDERLINESS : Part of the ‘TOP’ Series

    Orderliness

A while back I saw a bumper sticker that read ‘I’m too lazy to be disorganised, being organised makes my life easy’. How profoundly true is that? Many of us struggle with setting up and subsequently maintaining some order in our day to day life but wouldn’t you agree with me that when you finally get round to doing it, our lives run so much smoother. (more…)
