Behaviour
Is there any such thing as acceptable behaviour? One definition of etiquette I love so much is ‘etiquette means treating people with consideration, respect, and honesty, and being aware of how our actions affect those around us.’ Good behaviour must therefore encompass consideration, respect and honesty. ABC of Standing Out
Have you ever wanted to stand out; to position yourself in a way that your intelligence is appreciated and your value is evident? Do you sometimes wonder why some very intelligent people never really make that big break? I too have asked this question a lot lately and this prompted me to research successful people and how they got their break amidst the vast array of talent which this world has to offer… (more…)
Embrace Excellence
My parents, and I’m sure yours too never tired of saying ‘what is worth doing is worth doing well..’. In this series, I have tried to discuss the habits that make for a healthy and wealthy life. In week 1, we looked at the gains of continuously learning, in week 2, investing in yourself and last week about Valuing those around you. Today I would like to cap it up with the concept of Excellence. (more…)
Value others and things around you
Picture 2 scenarios – a diamond wrapped in an old newspaper or the same diamond displayed elegantly on a black velvet, draped on a stool…. I got your mouth watering there didn’t I? We would all agree that the value of the diamond didn’t change but my attraction & desire for that diamond was definitely be influenced by my perception. Truth is we might never have been able to benefit from the value of that diamond simply because the presentation of the diamond watered its value in our eyes. (more…)
Invest in yourself
When last did you do something for yourself, just because you wanted to? By the way, I am not talking about just buying clothes, shoes or indulging in all that we love to indulge in. I say this because this is how I make myself feel better after treating myself to one of my ‘spending exercises’. When we focus on the concept of Investment, we must agree that it is only an investment if it brings returns – which most times will be positive! (more…)

– to acquire knowledge of, or skill in, by study, instruction, or experience:
– to gain (a habit, mannerism, etc.) by experience, exposure to an example
The 1st definition applies to what most of us did in school. It is more attuned to the art of education. Some will argue at the effectiveness or use of this method of learning and if you’re anything like me, wonder how igneous rocks; geometry; or 5yrs studying Computer Engineering make me better in my vocation as a Beauty consultant ☺. At 8.34am on Saturday 2nd of May, a new princess was born – Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana; she immediately became 4th in line to the throne and throngs of people celebrated…
Amidst the celebrations, what had the biggest impact on me was the picture of Kate Middleton on the steps of the hospital as the little princess was presented to the world. How did Kate manage to look so good – with impeccable makeup, a beautiful smile and heels less than 10 hours after the birth of her 8lb+ baby? Being a woman too and with the experience of having big babies, I know the only thing on most women’s mind in those hours after birth is just to lie down, do nothing and have no care what everyone else in the world is going through… (more…)
Mary Kay Ash
Mary Kay Ash was at a very young age when her father became ill, so her mum had to work extremely long hours and this required Mary Kay Ash learning to cook and fend for herself from as young as 7. What Mary Kay Ash didn’t realise was that the independence she learnt at this time would eventually be the cornerstone of the person she was created to be.

The 1974 autobiography of Harland Sanders (aka Colonel Saunders) listed him as having been
